Entrepreneurs: Does #Perfectionism Sometimes Get In Your Way?

In this video, bizworkTV show host Mayra Ruiz-McPherson shares how (alleged) #perfectionism can sometimes get in the way if it’s not “managed.” She uses this vid clip to candidly share how her own #perfectionism challenges can sometimes impact her ability to complete a number of personal projects.

“I think business owners can sometimes get way too close to some aspect(s) of their business … it could be a project or a process; and without realizing it, an entrepreneur can find him or herself in a position where it’s hard to ‘let go’ or complete because the need to constantly improve, refine and, dare I say perfect it, becomes so great,” shares the web show host who acknowledges she speaks from first-hand experience. “This doesn’t happen to me often but when it does, it’s can be challenging to manage. You know all the while it’s never going to be ‘perfect’ yet you can’t help but try to get it as close to perfect as possible.”

Ruiz-McPherson adds: “I’m actually OK with launching something and then tweaking in phases; this approach is reasonable and practical when it comes to matters of time and budget. It’s only once in a while where I do fall victim to the falsehoods of #perfectionism and usually only with my own personal projects. I’m learning to just take a deep breath and embrace a-work-in-process mentality,” she shares. “I may still get stuck from time to time but overall, I’m working on it.”
